Adverse Reaction To A Varicella Vaccine

A reader named Stephanie recently submitted the following account: "I posted this on the VAERS system as well.  My daughter is case # E-48529.  After a round of vaccines on 12/7/2009 including HIB, Hep A, Hep B, and Varicella, my daughter 4 hours later complained it hurt to walk and had a huge red knot for 3-5 days.  Then, a series of bumps formed around the shot entry on her leg and grew to cover her from her knees up to her shoulders and some bumps down her arms.  I have pictures.  In mid-January we saw a doctor who said this was not chicken pox, and that it had to be an adverse reaction to something in one of the vaccines.  Previously she had been able to eat nuts,  we now have to carry an epi-pen.  She also has heightened sensitivity to citrus, apple, and milk – which now bring on rashes.  I suspect Varicella, because that was the shot administered to that leg.  Also, it was a new shot for her.  She had had HIB and Hep A.  Hep B was new, but I think it was in the other leg.  Her siblings also have the peanut allergy, but I think this adverse reaction compromised her immune system and left her more vulnerable to the food allergies."

Do you have eczema? I have it bad. 3 of 4 my kiddos have peNut allergies. Allergen is passed to baby in utero. Reaction is brought on after first encounter to likeness of the protein ie. Allergen. So looks like dr was right seems to be reaction to something in one of the vaccines. Hence since reaction was so strong she had been already exposed to protein/allergen. So the shot with the protein/allergen her body was programed to fight caused her to have an over reaction to the allergen. Consider yourself lucky she did not have anaphylaxis and died. Like her peanut allergy. BTW milk is lactose intolerance. Rare to have actual allergy, citric acid not allergy, also an intolerance that happens to cause rash itching ect. Ive had it all including JRA. Eczema can be considered autoimmune too. Anyways when you look at the whole big picture peanut allergies are mostlybrted to mother so yes it is my fault my children have peanut allergies. They still love me and I them. Prob lotsnto do with epigenomics. Some genes are turned on an others turned off. Just info

I had the swine flu jab and the next day i felt so ill with a headache, aching limbs and tiredness, I had to spend the whole day in bed. I also have a nasty thick white coating on my tongue. But judging by other people’s stories, I am lucky it wasn’t any worse.

  • But there is no long-term duration of protection from varicella vaccine, but there are now persons vaccinated more than 30 years ago with no evidence of waning immunity, while others have become vulnerable in as few as six years.

In some cases people do not get enough sign of protection may get feel of chickenpox illness.

I must say its great post to know about Reaction To A Varicella Vaccine..thanks !
